Turning Creativity Into Opportunity
For Michael Vagi, winning Design PNG was more than seeing his artwork transformed into a product.
It gave him an opportunity to use his creativity to build something for his future.
Michael was selected as a winner of the 2022 Design PNG competition, allowing his artwork to become part of Jack's of PNG's locally inspired collections.
As products featuring his design were sold, Michael earned royalties from his creativity.
Investing In His Future
Rather than treating those royalties simply as extra income, Michael chose to invest them.
He used the money he earned through Design PNG to establish his own piggery farm, creating another source of income for his future. What began as an artwork had contributed towards something much bigger.

Michael's journey shows what can happen when Papua New Guinean creativity is not only recognised, but given an opportunity to earn.
